This is a "deer" contest not a "big buck" contest... everyone gets credit for shooting their deer, doe or buck, big or small, which-ever legal way they choose (bow, shotgun, muzzleloader, etc... motor vehicles not allowed ). Everyone will be regulated by the game limits and laws for New Jersey. Issues of QDM, P&Y or B&C scoring, deer densities, weight of deer, etc. do not apply. All deer must be harvested in New Jersey to be eligible for the contest.

5 points for a deer. Buck or Doe.
1 point for every point on a rack of 1 inch or more added to the 5 points.

Participant score will consist of 1 deer. If you shoot more than 1 deer you may upgrade your score by submitting the new deer, this will cancel out your previous deer.

To participate
- You must be a New Jersey Hunter.com forum member.
- Sign-up by replying to this post, giving your screen name, your age, and your home town.
- You must sign up by August 31, 2005

September 1st names will be randomly drawn from a hat to determine teams and then the resulting teams will be posted here on New Jersey Hunter.Com. Depending on interest, teams will consist of 5-10 participants (or whatever # is easiest to fit everyone on a team). With the team score consisting of the total of it's participants scores. This is a completely random draw with no consideration to age or counties hunted.

To submit an entry a participant must include in the "Contest Entry Thread" post:

- your screen name
- buck or doe
- the number of tines that are longer than 1 inch (main beam counts), if applicable.
- a photo of himself/herself with the deer
- photo(s) with all scorable tines visable. If 1 inch tine is questionable supply a photo with a measurement against the tine for verification.
- a photo of legal NJ possession tag.

** If you have issues with scanning or posting your photos I would be happy to help you out or post them for you, just send me an E-MAIL. Any entry without the required photos will not be accepted.

Contest ends on 02/XX/06 date (1 week after the late deer season ends statewide)

In case of a tie, the participants scores will be arranged in descending order, the scores will be compared in that order with the highest particiapant score indicating the winning team.

The highest scoring team will be recognized & each member will receive a $10.00 Gift Card to Cabelas.

Lastly... please remember this is for fun.

Really looking to do teams of five.

1. Will be more competition.
2. Will be easier to break ties if they occur.
3. It will keep the cost of the prizes down for me.[up]

Hey bacs...We could all kick in $5 or so. With that extra money we could get a trophy to p [no swearing please] down every year. The 'New Jersey Hunter Cup".
Thanks for the offer JJoe, but lets keep it free this year. I do like your idea of a trophy though maybe not in the sense you were thinking....

I think we could get the all-powerful computer software designer Dragthor to make us a "Virtual" NJH Deer Contest Trophy that could be viewed right here on the site and up dated each year, kinda like the Stanley Cup, but we won't go on strike!

Maybe drag could design a trophy avatar that the winners could use.
That's a great idea.

Everything (rules, people, little prize, etc.) is good to go, right Bacs?

Bacs, if you keep everything organized in a simple spreadsheet... I can create a separate page with the "leader" board.
Sounds like a good deal with the "Leader Board".

Prizes are set, just waiting on 8/31 to come and close down the entry thread & pull the teams.
