October 19...what a great morning

Man, what a nice morning to be hunting...it's a shame I'm not doing it. It's finally chilly out, with no wind, leaves starting to change on some of the trees, and I'm off work today... but I'm waiting on a 100 ton topsoil delivery so I can put a lawn in. After this job, I'm done with house and yard projects for the year and will have time to put in the woods.

For those who can get out, go get 'em.

My brother called an said he saw 4 bucks this morning...on public land, Two he caught making scrapes while walking out, and a spike and 8 or 9 pointer were grunting and chasing does around for about 45 minutes. One little 4 pointer he jumped as it was making a scrape 45 yards from his truck, the other one he saw scraping on the edge of a weedy clearing in the woods, Another 4 point he just watched him. All the action was between 7:45am and 9:45am. I never see deer making scrapes...that boy is just plain lucky.

He prompted me to look at a close spot real quick on a break from spreading topsoil. I found some good sign myself and called the wife to get her to leave work early so she can get the kids off the bus and I can hit the woods. I'll be out there by 3:30pm.
