I'm not sure if there's a place on the board to introduce yourself or not... I took a quick look around and couldn't find one... so I'll do it here.

My name's Cameron, I've been hunting in NJ for 18 years and fishing since I can remember. I have my shotgun, rifle, and bow licenses (although I haven't bow hunter in about 10 years). Most of my hunting is for waterfowl, pheasant, deer, and turkey... in order of importance. I belong to a hunting club that leases land in the New Egypt area and get out there as much as I can.

I've been training/handling dogs since I started hunting and (not to toot my own horn) know quite a bit about it. I currently have two labrador retrievers (7 years and 1 1/2 years). Both are pretty good hunters but the younger one needs some work... I just joined a retreiver club to get a second set of hands/eyes to help me finish the younger one off.

Welcome to the board. Do you have any info or knowledge on Vizsla's? I know they are a pointer, but figured I would ask.

A little bit, I've hunted over them once before and seen them work a few other times. From what I've seen, they can be great hunters... very biddable, great noses, great drive. Do you own one?

"JerseyFJ40 We'll have to get out & do some duck hunting next fall. I'm north of 78 & hunt rivers & beaver flows. On the lakes & coastal I use a TDB. "

Cool, I have a TDB knockoff... Duck wrangler actaully. Same design as the old TDB's... with the old style transom. I think my boat is slightly lighter than a TDB though and drafts less... I've actually pushpoled my way through 4 inches of water on a mud flat.

No, but I am looking to get one. I am trying to locate a breeder in the New Jersey area. And once I get one I may need help with some of the training.

Check out this place... it may help you out.

A guy in my club just joined, he owns a german shorthair pointer... but I was at a hunt test a few years ago for NAVHDA at Buttonwood game preserve and quite a few of the entrants were vislas.

Once you get one, I can give you a hand with training it... or point you to a good pro.
