Ok guys here is a new spot I hunted for the first time last weekend. I have not done any leg work here, went in cold on Sat afternoon and found a good place to set up. Saw 4 deer total, one doe within range that did not offer a shot, and the others no closer than 80-100 yards. The ariel shows with the blue circle where I set up on Saturday. The green dot are where I saw deer, the green line is where they came from, purple line where they went. The red circle is what I think should be a good spot, but I need to hike in to check it out.

The area seems to be grown up crop fields. The division lines on the map are (from what I have seen so far) stone rows. There are not many old growth trees around, and a lot of browse because of the early stage of succesion.

So What do you guys think?

The spot I set up on was the second stone row crossing. The first was too close to the road. The area to the north with the thick cedars is up on a ridge that runs to at least the end of those trees. there is a sharp drop, a stone row, where I was hunting, then a gradual slope to the south.

Matty,

Let's get together and still hunt / scout this area? It is public land, and may be overrun in the next couple weeks, but nothing stoping us from learning it. It seemed like a nice piece, and no sign of other hunters, but I am sure they are there.

Matty,

Yes, Zone 8.

Woj,

What time did you go past my house? Must have been early. Yes, Accutech garage is in front along the highway.

Should have seen my truck and my wifes CRV?

Mystic,

The area to the North is the top of the ridge, I set up on the bottom, across the stone row, but yes I agree. I also agree that to the South / South East is where the deer were going, I would have headed in that direction that night, but there was another truck about 1/2 mile or so down the road to the south and did not want to get too close.

DBuck,

I know the general area gets hit pretty hard, but not sure of this spot. I will email you some more specifics.

Thanks El Jefe. Only thing is, I hate being that close to the road. Car noise drives me crazy when I am hunting. One of my spots is only 100 yards from Rt 78 and I hate the noise!!!
