New Hunter Looking For a Mentor

Hi all,

First off I'd like to introduce myself. My name is Joe and as I've prepared for my first turkey hunt this year I can safely say just reading through these forums has been an immense help. I also want to make it clear I am in no way asking for spots, just someone who may be open to mentoring a younger guy new to the sport.

I am an avid fly fisherman and usually get out 3-4 times a week, and offer guided trips for trout unlimited donations during the high season. My real passion is wild trout fishing in NJ, which over the last few years has brought me into contact with quite a few turkeys in the gap and Newark watershed area.

I've been practicing calling and feel comfortable but would love to find someone who hunts either of those areas to get out with. Given the amount of time I spend in those areas I am also more than happy to heavily scout with anyone interested. I have shot trap and skeet competitively since I was a child so safety is of the utmost importance to me. Also more than happy to offer a couple of guided days on the water in some real honey holes in exchange as well.

Thanks,
Joe

We hunt the Stokes State Forest area. We also fish the Flatbrook and all the little Native Trout streams. We book a Cabin for every weekend of the season in Stokes. We go up on Friday and get the Cabin squared away then try to roost one for the morning hunt. We stay until Sunday and fish. You are more than welcome to hunt with us. As of right now we have 3 guys so one more will give us two teams. It is myself, my brother in law Chet, and another member here on the website. PM me your info. Location, phone number. etc. and I will call you.
