New boots smell like rubber

Ok I hope this is a dumb question with a very easy answer, but how do I get the rubber smell out of my hunting boots? I never used rubber boots before but needed to buy a pair since one of my spots has a 10 ft wide brook to cross. I washed them in scent control laundry detergant, put them in a bag with pine trimmings...still wreaks of rubber. Will this slowly fade or can I do something to kill this smell?

It will disperse …leave them outside for a few days.

Ditto what Cousin said. Leave them outside for a few days. The sunlight and heat will volatilize the rubber smell.
sounds like an excuse for some puddle jumping lol

I've tried evyerthing. Even buried them in the ground. They will lose their smell naturally over time. Nothing you can do about it.
yea mine are 4 years old still smell like rubber lol

Surprisingly, I've heard that deer are not alarmed by the smell. Get an Ozonics! [lol][lol][lol]
As long as they don't smell like a human you should be OK. Deer smell rubber from tires on the road and tires in the field. Its not foreign to them.
Rubber boots that smell like rubber...no it can't be [hihi]

If they smell your rubber boots then they are downwind and they will smell you anyway.
I always take mine for a walk though a cow pasture and play hop scotch with the cow patties

We are not in IL on 10000 acre land where deer might see a human but once a year..........we are in NJ ..deer see, smell and encounter humans everyday....I have been in my stand smoking a cig and had deer walk under me. All this scent control is crap.........All boils down to the right place and right time. I was out today on my 4 wheeler kicked up 3 does..........all were 10 yards from me stopped as I was on my quad w/ engine running.

I guess you don't need an Ozonics?

they all smell like rubber when you first get them. wear them and walk through water and mud and that should get rid of the smell before deer season.
