So I was looking at my mossberg 500 today and noticed 4 screw holes with little screws in them on top of the receiver. So I took apart the gun and looked to see what they held and I found they don't do anything. These are all factory holes by the way I never did this.

The holes/ screw look to small to mount a scope but the hole placement is about right to put a weaver mount up there. Does anyone know if this is what they are for, mounting a scope? Or is it for something else?

Ok thanks I wasn't sure because I had heard you had to have the gun tapped.
This is good to know.
