Lots of dead deer on Rt. 80 west

Took a ride up to my In-laws yesterday in Andover, counted 8 dead deer on the side of rt. 80 from 287 to exit 19.

Are people seeing a high amount of dead deer on the side of roads?

We have dead deer all over Franklin Lakes. I also p [no swearing please] a lot on the the way to work on Rt 23 and Rt 287.
Had one hit in front of my house this morning. I heard a gunshot and ran outside to check out what was happening. A cop came up to me and told me a woman hit a deer and he had to "put it down". He said he pushed it off the road and pointed to the area.

After everyone left I went over to check it out and it was STILL ALIVE. No bullet holes. The cop missed completely and left the deer to suffer.
There is a dead buck on the north bound lanes of 287 just before the Madison Ave exit in Morristown....[down]
Wyckoff had one impaled on a fence this morning. Ther police are not permitted to shoot them. They had to wait for animal control which took a while.

That's insane, backwards and wrong.
I can understand the chief's concern for discharging a firearm in a non life threatening situation, but if you can get close enough and shoot towards the ground it should be ok. We use a .22 in Franklin Lakes.
Plenty of dead ones on 80 and 287....Think the state would clean em up.

There are few out there that are literall 4 or 5 months old with just the skin/bones remaining.[down]
on Monday I counted 11 dead deer form 78 in Phillipsburg, to 80 in Wayne....Most were on 287....I saw 1 today on RT 3 near clifton
