have a friend looking for a cheap and complete loran c unit, if any knows of one please let me know.

spend $200 and get a hand held gps. and get the hard wire for it.

loran c is out dated and goes down at times, the wrong times. they are not as acurate as gps once they disabled selective availablity.

I'm sure his friend knows this. But if you have a bunch of numbers in loran it is much easier and more accurate to covert them into a gps once the loran gets you there

or buy a unit with a phantom loran. It does the conversions for you. Get an accurate loran fix (like your dock) for the numbers and adjust the correction to it when you turn on the unit. This is much more accurate than a stand alone loran unit and even if they shut off the loran signal will still work.

thanks guys but i am already aware of comments, buddy just wants a seperate unit and most conversions are not all that great either. but thanks, will keep looking for unit
