I have been hearing one singing away every morning and evening in toms river. Originally thought I was imagining it but definitely a quail around the paved jungle. Ain't heard a quail around here in over 30 years. Stocked some in the county park for training my dogs roughly 5 years ago but did not think penned raised birds would reproduce in the wild. Pretty cool if they did.

great for dog training thanks for sharing... Will keep it in mind even though I have a non-pointer pup (lab)... I think he will make a great field dog as well as duck.

Question - I always thought "Quail" was like "Deer", meaning it can be singular or plural... i.e. " the dog flushed a covey of quail..." not "flushed a covey of quails" ?
Saw a nice herd of deer, not saw a nice herd of deers... etc....
