Well not to much. Dont want to streams and rivers to be too high, on opening day. But there were earlier reports that the lack of rain might have had affect on the stocking schedule. Hopefully we get a good balance and it will be anice day. [up]

Yup .... we need it. Its been relatively dry.
Musky is realy low, and state has cut the water flow from Hopatcong to the lowest allowed by law[down]It's going to be a fight for the few deeper holes
Pequanock River is real high right now. I think this will disperse the stocked fish making later season fisging better.

I would think that they would open it more If its low. Is this because they fear the lake water would drop also? [confused]
The thunder was loud as hell this morning by me. Woke my ass up lol
I'm with you, bring on the rain!! The ponds are looking lower and lower by the day, but hopefully these past few storms along with today's will help that all.
The Flatbrook was low on Thursday, looked fine on Sunday, and with this, will hopefully hold over until the weekend. Nasty winds tore through Walpack on Friday night. The front was right above my camper, with clouds flying by.
Hopatcong needs to fill up quite a bit more.

Last fall was a 5 year draw down of the lake so folks can repair boat docks. The dry winter has kept the lake from filling back up and it's still nearly 4 feet down. State Parks worked out a flow agreement with F&W below the 12 cfs that is called for after the draw down. Parks is supposed to give the upper river 8.2 cfs right now, and they keep closing the valve back and I keep yelling at them to protect the upper river. I usually guilt them into going back to 8.3 or so. Local business owners are wanting zero release so the lake will fill faster, but even at that it will take over 6 months to fill unless we continue to see good rains. Feb. was one of the driest Februarys ever on record.

The lower river will be somewhat unaffected because of all the tributaries, but the upper river will be low for quite some time yet.

What is cfs?
Cubic feet per second as pertains to the release of water in this instance.
