My uncle picked me up this morning at 5:00 am and we loaded up the kayaks to do some clamming. Went down to the bay side of Island Beach State Park and hit the sedge islands. It took us about 1 1/2 hour to rake up our 300 clams. We had a mixed bag today everthing from chowder to little necks[tasty] Here are a couple pics for some reason the camera took crappy pics.

Yup. I usually bring a shucking knife with me and eat as I rake[tasty].

Yup. Its worth the $20.00 the stores around here sell them for $35.00 a 100 and they don't taste as good.

did you and uncle just drift while holding the rake or did you exit the yak and hand rake?
Nice catch, do you purge with salt water?

We park the yaks on the islands and walk around and rake. We hit one little area that was real good you would get 3 or 4 each time. I purge in fresh water as they purge they have salt water in them and it makes the water salty. just want to get the sand out of them.

havnt had clams yet but see boats all the time in the flats walking around for them.
