on the beach or in the inlet what are my best chances of catching a fish? should i be trying for bass, blackfish, ling, cod? or maybe the manesquan inlet??? where can i catch saltwater fish this time of year? thanks.

Canal isn't worth the time this time of year. There was herring in the inlet, your best bet is probaly stripers as they are still around. Dunk some clam or throw plugs.

Either inlet is GOOD right now. I'd bring a 9-10 foot rod and some plugs.
