I am hunting with Matty tomorrow morning. He went through the UBNJ process for the RGK zone 5 hunt...and is ready to go.

I just remembered...Matty is not on my deer contest team. "Matty, go set up over there. That's a good area." (wink wink)

I wonder how this works....

Matty hunts Zone 5 and shoots a doe. In Zone 5 you must shoot a doe first in September, but its NOT Earn-A-Buck.

Now, Matty can shoot a buck in Zone 5. But the doe does NOT count towards his Earn-A-Buck in a different zone, right?

I don't know about that either. I did not think EAB does are zone specific. Here is another senario, I shot a doe in zone 7 on saturday, do I need to shoot another doe in zone 10 before I can shoot a buck in zone 10, I don't think so. But I am not totally sure how this works. I will check my 2nd deer tag and see if there is any information on it when I get home today.

That is right, the doe needs to be taken from an EAB Zone to count against the EAB requirement.

Yes, I hunt zones 11, 14, & 15 all EAB. If I shoot a doe in 11, I can now shoot a buck in any EAB Zone, and if I take another doe in 15, both have met my requirement for any EAB Zone and my BAD requirement as well. In the early season that is.

Well... I saw 4 doe. Matty saw one. The ones I saw did not cooperate (or were wearing red ribbons (long story))....just wouldn't walk w/in range.

Freaking Matty messed me up this morning.

We are gonna try again tomorrow AM.

So I guess, the ones with ribbons on them, are like tagged trout, if you shoot one of them you win a prize right?!?!?! I would hang it on their mailbox, along with a picture of me and the deer with the ribbon lying in the back of my truck!!!!!

Only if you took your first doe to a bank a doe check station and got the card. You must also take your 2nd doe there and your bucks.
