I guess my question is are they teaching the hunters ed program for the love of the sport, the chance to work with youngsters and bring them into the sport or is it the love of a particular weapon? Teaching the program does not assure the student will take to any particular weapon, just giving him/her an overview of what they may encounter in the woods. Safety should be the #1 concern for all hunters...I would hope the fine dedicated men & women that service these programs would have the students best interest at heart. I think they will....
I agree completely.
Being a hunter ed instructor myself, when we teach, we are "employee's" of F&W. Meaning we are covered by their insurance for the time we are "on the clock" so to speak. One thing about being an "employee", is that you leave you feelings about anything at the gate before pulling in. We are Employees and therefore, we support F&W on all levels.
It's the love of teaching kids and adults that means the most, and knowing that they are safe hunters when they leave us.
