I just started looking at this problem with vibration. I might just need to put washers around the pulley for the cable. I don't want to buy Dacron line. Time to narrow down the possible reasons for the vibration.

Is the vibration in the cable, or throughout the boat.
I had to use a board across the width of the boat to eliminate my vibs. It kind of stiffened the gunnels if you will.

I took a rubber bungie cord wraped it around the cable and hooked it 2 the boat. works like a charm[up]

Too many possible sources of vibration, currently.
The 2' extension poles touching gunnels, pulley wheels loose, possible cable vibration, downrigger mount transferring into boat... Just give me the time...

You will always have cable sing no matter how you try to isolate it. All the answers help but won't totally eliminate it.
