Going to upland bird hunting preserve next Monday for chuckars hunting. Do not have a dog and they do not have guide. How easy to find and flush chuckars without a dog?
Chuckars walk a lot. Plenty times I see them walking on the road even though cover is available. Sometimes even in pairs. They'll look back at you unafraid. Definitely not alert as pheasants. They go down easier when hit. It will be a fun hunt.
Those little bugger can run. I used to chase them at Big Springs. Last time I hunted them though the guides dog caught 2 of them and we wanted to be compensated, but weren't. Oh well. Fast flying and good eating.
