I am reading through the NY digest and see I can hunt with a handgun. But I can't find more on the rules for this. Like what I could hunt for and when. Unless I'm missing it,been through the book a few times now. Any help would be great thank's.

handgun rules are the same as rifle rules.

The last I checked it is illegal for a non-resident to possess a handgun in NYS.

230 is correct..Non-residents can not hunt with a handgun or have one in possession in NY..

100% illegal for non res possession of a handgun unless en route to a certified nra match in which you must pre-register and have a copy of that registration in possession.
