Just got call from friend lives in Little Falls, 3 days ago he found an opossum with its head gone, and this morning he found a squirrel with it's head missing. Both were killed during the night. Anyone have an idea. I thought an owl.

I've seen hawks take the heads off of several field mice, and then go back and collect the bodies. But if this is taking place at night, it's most likely '*****. Also, not sure if a hawk would be able to get the head of a opossum.

The only nighttime predators I'm aware of around here are owls, racoons and fox. By owls I'm mean screech owls, although maybe there's a migrating one passing through. Have your friend call me when the weatherHEAD over his meter disappears.;)
