Not sure but I believe I need a DVD ripper in order to get my videos which are currently on DVD's onto youtube or into Windows Movie Maker to edit them. I thought it would be an easy process going from DVD to youtube but I keep running into the fact I need to rip the DVD first.

Do I indeed need this software? Am I missing an easier way?

There seems to be many companies offering software to rip your DVD's...any feedback for me on what I should be looking for.

Thanks for any feedback.

they are not...if they were I could easily upload them direct from the camera. I only have DVD's.

if it is an encrypted (commercial) dvd, then you can use DVD decrypter (just google it) to decrypt the files and then work with them in handbrake
