This is true, but the pistol permit requirement is de facto registration. That is, your local PD has complete information on every handgun you own that was aquired with a pistol permit. There is no mandatory registration of firearms in NJ.
Is it the local pd to the gun store or the pd that issued the permit? Not that it matters much, just curious. That is, your local PD has complete information on every handgun you own that was aquired with a pistol permit.
[up].Gun.....what gun?
The PD issues the permit. When a sale is made a completed copy goes back to the local PD and to the NJSP. It is the seller's responsibility to send the copies. Is it the local pd to the gun store or the pd that issued the permit? Not that it matters much, just curious
How or where do you go to do this?NJ has a 'volunteer' registration policy for weapons acquired/purchased either out of state or by other legal means not in the state of NJ (gifted, etc.). That being said, I would not register the pellet/BB guns unless you feel so compelled to do so.
Gun.....what gun?
[wallmad]air rifle pellet guns
It's not necessary. While i am no expert: it may be necessary to get a Handgun permit for the purchasing of a Pistol BB gun and FLL transfer for an out of state purchase,
Perfectly legal. My friend(from NJ) recently went to Cabelas and bought a new Benjamin Pistol Pellet gun and brought it right up to the counter. They never asked for any ID or anything. He said he asked the clerk, who had to take it out of the glass case if it would be an issue with a NJ ID, and the clerk said "No". I was quite surprised when he got in the car and showed me what he bought.
not saying it's the right thing to do..just stating some facts about personal experience.
