A laser what?

Clearly to point a VISIBLE dot on the deer would be illegal, however an IR laser to rangefind would technically violate the letter of the law but most likely would not be prosecuted.

These Scopes DO NOT project a VISABLE Dot onto a target for the purpose of aiming.
That part is true, but VISIBLE is NOT mentioned in the compendium!

That was why I wrote"
an IR laser to rangefind would technically violate the letter of the law but most likely would not be prosecuted.
From the Compendium: "• Sights which project a spot or light onto the game animal."

If you notice the word LIGHT, there is no qualifier.
IR is light outside of the spectrum that humans can see with our eyes. While I don't know if there is a qualifier in the actual law, according to the compendium it is absolutely a technical violation!

ADDED

I continued reading and found this:
"• Hunting for or shooting any wildlife by aid of a light, except when
hunting raccoon, opossum while on foot or when hunting coyote/
fox during the special coyote/fox season."

Technically using an IR rangefinder at as part of your hunt would seem to be a violation....I don't think that is the intent as in the case above, but it does violate the specifics of the law!

It would be nice if the word visible were added!!
