According the NJF&W regulations (http://www.state.nj.us/dep/fgw/pdf/2005/05-06smallgame_seasons.pdf), there are two Coyote seasons, the regular one and the Special season. Specifically, if I was using a muzzleloader, the first one runs Nov. 12, 2005 to Feb. 20, 2006 and the Special one runs Jan. 16 to Feb. 20,2006.
For the regular one, only a rifle permit is required, but for the Special one, I also need a Special Coyote Season permit.
As you can see, the dates overlap. So if I was out there with my ML on let's say, Feb 1st, I wouldn't need the Special permit because I would be covered under the regular season, right?
It seems to me that you only need the Special permit if you're going to use a shotgun after dark.
Anyone know for sure?
