Being a new hunter I have never encountered a yote in the woods yet and dont know if thats the reason you havent seen any deer yet. They are on my gf's property where I started hunting and they've always run when they see us. I think they're generally afraid of humans especially if you come across one alone being they're pack animanls. I would shoot one if I saw one at my deer spot. Especially if you turkey hunt in the same spot because I know they will definently hurt that population. And hey...you'll get a nice cape out of the deal.

Funny thing is I just got in stand and was pulling my bow up when it came by...It Didnt even know or act like I was there. Its nose was to the ground so Im guessing it was on the hunt (Food on the mind)

They are not dangerous to humans, alone. In a pack, theoretically they might come after you, but alone, no. They only get up to about 40lbs. to my knowledge, but I could be wrong. They're nothing like wolves!

I've got tons of the in zone 4 in Walpack. Had a small guy come in on me while turkey hunting a few years back, and my brother in law had one stalk him this turkey season. I killed one with my slug gun about 8 years ago, but whenever I try to get one with the bow, they run. Very wary animal.

Turns out that we are both half right. From the Digest...

In addition to the coyote and fox seasons
described in the chart below, properly licensed
persons hunting deer during the Six-day Firearm,
Permit Muzzleloader or Permit Shotgun deer seasons
may kill coyote or fox when the person is in
possession of a valid deer transportation tag for the
applicable deer season (i.e., before harvesting a deer.)
All hunting must cease immediately upon harvesting
the daily deer bag limit and completing the deer
transportation tag(s). Incidental hunting of coyote
or fox while deer hunting may resume following
the issuance of a New Jersey Supplemental Deer
Transportation Tag for the applicable deer season
(provided the season remains open and the season
bag limit of deer has not been reached.)
So you don't need the Coyote/Fox permit to hunt them during the 6-day firearm, Permit Muzzleloader, or the Permit Shotgun Season. You do however need the Permit for the Special Coyote and Fox Season.
