NEWARK — A county corrections officer who shot and wounded her boyfriend before killing herself and their 4-month-old son fired 15 shots during the altercation, authorities say.

The Essex County Prosecutor's Office says Kelly McKenith reloaded during the dispute at her Newark apartment Monday. McKenith's 19-year-old daughter was in the apartment at the time but escaped uninjured.

Louis Goosby was shot in the leg and ear and remains in critical condition at University Hospital. Investigators believe he's the 4-month-old's father.

The 39-year-old McKenith had been a corrections officer at the Essex County Jail since 2005. It's not known if that's where she met Goosby. He was released in 2006 after serving time for drug and weapons offenses and death by auto.

I think its safe to assume their mental condition at the day of test was different from the day of incedent.
