I purchased the Encore 2 years ago and love it. It came with a 50 cal muzzle loader barrel and I also purchased the 12 ga. rifled barrel. Great Gun. I also hunt in NY and plan to buy a .270 barrel. The plus side of this gun is you can hunt all seasons and out of state with the same gun, making your shooting accuracy much more consistant. The down side is that you will spend about 250 - 300 for each additional barrel and a 100 + for a scope. I give it a [up][up][up]. Cleaning it is very easy also.
It shoots as well as another inline, but is real difficult to clean.
In addition to that residue from the primer gets on the scope.
The scope needs to either be one of these see under scopes or be removable to clean the weapon.
They make a velcro boot to cover the primer area. This prevents the flash from getting on the scope, but worse it redirects any residue toward your eyes. I know this because I fired it once with the boot and without glasses.
Another problem with mine is that the ramrod rattles in the holder. I put an o-ring around it and the barrel to prevent this.
