I thought all you need to buy a long gun from a private party in PA is your NJFID card. The guy Im talking to is telling me that he needs to ship it to a FFL in NJ. I thought that process was only with handguns. I may be wrong, but I don't think I am. I know guys from NJ that went to gunshops in PA and purchase long guns and all they needed was there NJFID card.[confused][confused]

IF your picking it up, all you need is your NJFID, if he is shipping it, it has to go to a ffl dealer.

He told me Face to Face transactions are only legal for PA residents. For out-of-state residents it needs to be shipped to FFL dealer in that state.

Your FID card is only good for FFL purchase in Pa. You can not sell or buy from private parties.

What you can do to save a bit of $$$ is go to an FFL near him, have him turn it in to the FFL and buy it from the FFL. Basically having the FFL do the transfer.

You either have to go with him to an FFL in PA and have it transferred or have him ship it to a NJ FFL for transfer. You can not do FTF out of state in any state not just PA, as bloodtrails stated interstate private sales are illegal unless they are done through an FFL. The seller is correct.

Thanks for clearing this up, guys. I thought it was the same between a FFL dealer and a private party. So the guy was correct. Doesn't matter, I purchased within our own state. Thanks Whiskers. Class Act guy.[up][up]
