I was out tonight with my hunting buddy in zone 8 and slammed a nice eight pointer. It is my first buck ever. It all started with a few does that came down a trail at 5:30 they milled around for a little while but never presented me a ahot. Good thing. About 3 mins after they walked off this nice eight pointer came down the same trail. He stopped about thirty-five yards out and started rubbing a tree. That really got my heart going. He made his way down the side of a stream toward me and stopped about ten 12 yards out. well it just so happens that this was the only place I didnt want him to come through because there was a tree between me and him the whole time. Well he made his way around and presented a broadside shot at twelve yards. I was shaking so bad i didnt think I would pull it off. I released and he took off about twenty yards then stopped. it didnt look like he was hit but I was sure I made a good shot. After a couple of seconds he dropped like ton of bricks twenty yards from where I hit him. I am going to send the pics to Bacs as soon as I can get them loaded onto the comp. His tarsal glands stunk. I mean you could smell him from fifteen yards away. Do they always smell this bad or is just that the bucks are getting geared up for the rut? I love the Smell of tarsal in the morning...It smells like Victory!!!!!!!! hahahaha
