Hey Ken, you there? I tried sending you an email, but it was kicked back, don't know whats up with the email addy, but just wanted to let you know I'm going down to the farm again today to do some further posting, and put a new lock and cable on the gate. I will probably be hunting my food plot opening day, my brother taping me, and Kyle will be sitting in the stand we don't use, if the wind is right. Are you going down there Saturday?

I don't plan on hunting there Sat but plan on hanging a stand or two on Sun.
Where are you looking at? I might try to slip in on Monday or Tuesday after work, but want to avoid the area you've been through. Word of caution...up near the plot, I've seen a few deer bedding 20 yards off the field, and actually in the corn.

The plot really needs rain. I was there today and the only thing coming up is the corn I turned under, and a little of the clover. I talked to Butch today too. He is going to get the safety zone signs for the house on the southern end, so those guys who came in from there last year to hunt right off the back yard will effectively have no place to hunt...our line is much closer than the 450 feet, so we should have the southern end to ourselves this year without them crowding the border or coming across the line.

Want to put a stand or two in the south woods so I can access it from the back road in the am.
The south woods probably has some acorns this year where the oaks grown near the wet area. In fact, it's been so dry, hunting near that water might be a good idea.
Also the right side of the driveway going in-the stripwoods directly opposite of the observation stand.
Isn't that where your Gorilla already is...just down on the corner, or did you take it out? That is probably going to be good because it's near that standing water, and close to the field.

Was also wanted to put a stand up right behind John's trailer, that is if the deer are not bedded there. If they are bedding there,I'll leave that alone!
They usually bed there, but right now I think they are in the corn. It will be tough until the corn gets cut.

I got a couple other spots and just picked up another farm near me to hunt.
With gas prices the way they are, I'm sure you were glad to get something closer to home.

Next time you are going down (besides Sunday) let me know, maybe we'll get together for a hunt and look things over.

Ken, how did you do Saturday? Sounded like you might have had a canine visit. I couldn't tell exactly where the dog was, but he sounded close to your stand. All I saw was a little fawn, and a few turkeys.

I heard a dog barking down in the south field towards the end of the night. I also thought I saw you pull away from the gate as I was walking down the lane. If you were parked on the other road, I wonder who was parked at the gate? I was pretty disappointed with the food plot...nothing is growing, and not many tracks in the dirt. Maybe when it cools down, and some of the green browse dies down, deer will move in there more, but right now, the north end seems pretty dead.
