I have a scoped rifle that has been bumped around a bit and it is waaaay off target! Should I bore sight it first? How accurate is bore sighting? I know nothing about them. Thanks.

i had mine lazer sighted but when i got to range it was still off.put me on paper but still off.
lots of guys here had neat tricks for sighting in,using a dental mirror or taking the primer out of a shell, taking the barell off.and using the hole from the missing primer line everything up on a clay target

It should get you on paper. Do you have one angel.
Let me know I have one you can use.

My kit has always been a little low and to the left . I compensate for that and get within 4 inches at 100 yards . It's a Bushnel kit with about a dozen calibres. It's saved me Alot of time and money over the years

Shoot one from 25 yards.

Dial the scope

Move to 50 yards and shoot one

Dial the scope

Should be ready for 3 shots at 100

This works for me and only costs 5 rounds unless you plan to shoot beyond say 400 yards then forget what I wrote.

Do you have one?
No, but I got pm's from 4 people offering to let me borrow or sight it for me! [up][up]
I have a .17 hmr (bolt action) that took a bumpy ride in a Gator, and a .223 M4 that has a slapped on Bushnell Trophy 3 T dot. I've never seen a .17 bore sight, do they exist? Will (shootstraight) had me dialed at 100y (1" 3 shot groups), but my driving (running and gunning groundhogs) changed all that [ko] I'm so off I can't hit paper at 25y!!! Maybe I damaged my BSA sweet 17 scope?

1, take upper off
2, set target 25 yards
3, set upper on stable platform and remove charging handle and bolt look down in the barrel and center on target
4, without moving the upper move elevation and winditch to center of target.
5. put upper back on lower and shoot at 25 yard target. get a good group and move to 50 then 100
6 knock the blood out of something
