i have a old remington 550 rifle that i am restoring for a freind. i purchased the birchwood casey gun blueing kit that contains a liquid agent. i followed all the directions , and had that gun stripped of all past blueing material.. but it does not get as dark as that of the gun on the cover of the package.
i used the cold method of applieng it on and then putting cold water on it..
i really want that dark color, am i asking to much , or is the metals back in 1942 much different than those today..
would the past have made it any darker!!
