I have hunted my first season at Black River, i saw a good amount of deer and shot a doe, also saw a very nice 8 point, but iv been getting mixed reviews from other hunters, any thoughts or tips?

Hunt where you feel comfortable, see wildlife, and have a safe and enjoyable experience in the outdoors. Don't get hung up one others opinions.

What bucndoe just said. I hunted black river for 10 years in the 1990s. Good track of land and I learned to work around the pheasant hunters. Do what works best for you.

Thanks, and yeah there were alot of pheasant hunters but 6 day went pretty well

If your seeing deer why move? and bucks no less? You have obviously found a good spot. Screw what the cry babies say. Sounds like you have a good spot, now refine your tactics and kill that 8 next season.[up]

plenty of bucks travel the power line from the neighborhoods you just have to be there

BR has some nice spots.
If you shot a doe and saw a buck, you've found yourself a public land winner.

if you have the time and energy. there are many animals to be killed in Black River. Deer, Ducks, Geese, Turkey, pheasant, squirrel, rabbit, etc.

Dont discredit others opinions to their face...agree and encourage them to find a better place...then just stay put. More room for you!
