Does anyone know if the Black River range in Chester is closed on the weekends during the summer? I cannot remember if it is closed for the whole weekend or just Sundays. Thanks.

Note: Closed weekends from the third Saturday in May through the Sunday of Labor Day Weekend, as well as on the Christmas and Easter holidays. Operating hours are 9 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. during this summer period, and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. for the rest of the year. Hunter education classes will continue to be held at the range and will not be affected by these hours.

It is a shame that the DFW cowtowed to the home owners that live nearby and complain about hearing guns in the distance. The range was there before these city folk built their Mc Mansions there.

If i am correct, that just applies to the shotgun range and the bow range is open during the summer?

I believe you are correct that it the summer closing is only for the shotgun range.

Black River--A lovely piece of property, where you can get cussed out by a new "local" while out hunting on land you paid for. The old timers still will help you get a deer out, though.

Yep 230grain, a petition was going around amongst some new homeowners seeking to end or restrict range use. Keith, RIP, told me about it awhile back. Obviously, being that the range is privately operated and not subject to adverse political whims(and/or wimps), the aggression was challenged. Ya know the logic, "Don't buy an inexpensive home near the noisey airport and then complain about the noise that made your home inexpensive to begin with."
