Bill to Stop Frivolous Gun Lawsuits Heads to Senate

(Columbus) – Legislation critical to the future of the firearms and sportsmen’s movements will likely be heard before the U.S. Senate this week.

The U.S. Sportsmen’s Alliance (USSA) is urging sportsmen nationwide to ask U.S. senators to support SB 397, the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, introduced by Sen. Larry Craig, R-ID. The bill would prevent predatory lawsuits that attempt to blame makers and sellers of firearms for the criminal misuse of lawfully sold products. The bill is expected before the Senate as early as today.

“This legislation safeguards against litigation that could cripple the firearms industry,” said USSA Senior Vice President Rick Story. “The USSA joins the National Shooting Sports Foundation and others in supporting the bill and encourages sportsmen to take grassroots action to ensure its passage.”

Take Action! Sportsmen from coast to coast should contact their U.S. senators today. Urge them to p [no swearing please] SB 397 without attaching any anti-gun amendments. To find your U.S. Senator and for contact information, call (202) 224-3121 or use the Legislative Action Center at
