Bear guerillas are out: Beware
Tuesday, November 22, 2005
BY FRED J. AUN
For the Star-Ledger
Although its Web site features a scary military motif, Win Animal Rights (guess the acronym) insists it doesn't want anybody to break any laws. Indeed, while it is "now recruiting bear hunt saboteurs," the organization seems to have first recruited a nail-biting, hand-wringing lawyer.

"The above information is not meant to incite or request any illegal actions or illegal activities of any kind," says the Web site's fine print, obviously crafted by one of the few attorneys in the world who don't rely on dead cows for their BMW seat material.

Municipal court clerks, police chiefs and state Division of Fish and Wildlife conservation officers will be glad to know that WAR is urging its otherwise anarchistic subscribers to be good and careful citizens. "If you have any questions about the legality of any act, we encourage everyone receiving this action alert to check your local laws and ordinances before proceeding," says the mealy-mouthed fine print.

That is a terrific article. I'm surprised the Ledger's editors allowed it to go to print.

Lol that article was great - I'm surprised it wasn't marked as an editorial with the author calling the WAR guys "goofballs" and such.
