Saw it on my way in this morning. Looked to be 30-50 lbs or so. Pretty small one.

About 3/4 mile south of Lakeside drive west.

Didn't have my camera [wallmad]

NJ's Comprehensive Bear Management policy at work.

It would be interesting if the Insurance companies started to apply pressure. There would probably be an "Emergency Hunt" a week later when regulators started getting their palms greased.

Only a matter of time, it worked with the deer....

One would assume that the damage caused by a bear would far surpass that of a deer but who knows. I dont think the frequency of bear/auto collisions is high enough to warrant them getting involved.

I'd love to hit one........I can feel the whiplash already.....oh the pain.... I..........can't........work..............any...........more(cough,cough). Who....... do......... I....... sue? (cough)
Great now the same people that were protesting the cops killing bears in Vernon are going to have to protest for cars killing bears. I hope they dont light to many candles and start any forest fires.
Wait... you mean there are baby bears? Oh NO! Our strategy of letting them all die of natural age is failing; They're reproducing! Who could have predicted such a thing?!

No. We have a Comprehensive Bear Management Plan.

Article I; Attraction

1. Pick up apples and fruit that have fallen to the ground because bears can't smell the fruit when it's still on the tree and they are too fat to climb anyway.

2. Put the fruit in an "air tight" container and store it in your house. Garage or basement preferred.

Article II; Populaion Reduction

1. Euthanasia by NJDF&W
2. Euthanasia by local PD (Currently under review by Bear wachtivists in Vernon)
3. Euthanasia by automobile
4. Euthanasia by Farmer losing cash crops (SSS rule may apply)

i live less then 1 mile from were it was hit....just last week i went on vacation, and came back to my neighbors showing me pics of a big(400lbs+) bear going into my "work car".... I must have left a small piece of food in there, and this dam thing opened my car door and made himself at home.... i guess i should get a fine for feeding the bears!!!
that was just yogi and boo-boo,lol
the one killed on canistear the other day wasnt the small one by my house.(i thought it was) just seen the little guy 10 min ago walking around my yard....They have shot 2 bears in the last 3 weeks, and 1 was hit by a car.... all within 1 mile of my house, and i still have 3 different bears wandering around my house almost every day!!!!!!
so much for keeping the population at a desired 1 bear per 2.5 square miles of habitat
I am going to Cherry Ridge today....is the carcass still there?
no somebody picked it up pretty quick.it was right up the road from cherry ridge.it was about half way between highland lks and the range.
