I havent gone pheasant hunting on Thanksgiving and I am planning for tomorrow to be my first day out this year... Which one is usually more packed from your experience? I live 5 minutes from Colliers and about 15 from Assunpink. I really just want to break in my pup. We went out a few times last year when he was only 5-6 months old. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated!

Both will be mobbed. Especially if you're trying to break in the pup, I would consider holding off until Friday or another non-stocking day if you can. There will still be plenty of birds and not as many other hunters and dogs. You'll have better control over the pup and be able to dedicate the proper attention to him. Good luck![up]

Thanks Grits... He is actually super-obedient for a young dog, I kind of lucked out with him. I wish I could go Friday but tomorrow is the only day my brother can hunt with me this year so I have to take advantage of the opportunity when it presents itself. I don't even care if I get a bird, it would be nice for my brother since he never shot one before but I think it will just be good to get out there. Thnaks for the info!

The best tip I can give you is keep your pup in the crate for the opening volley at the mills, you we will get a bird by yourself when they push the field. Then go out with dog when it calms down.Good luck and enjoy.
