I recently moved into the High Bridge area of NJ and am looking for some help.

I know we have some good fishing spots close by (Spruce Run, Round Valley), and i have also fished at Lake Solitude without much luck.

i know there are some nice sized carp in solitude as i have seen them.

So my questions

Any advice on tactics for catching carp at solitude?

Also any advice for the b [no swearing please] in Solitude and Spruce run?

No I wasn't saying that shiners were small sunnies.

Its just when i fished solitude a while back i caught a few small sunnies on worm, And then bang the b [no swearing please] were on it straight away but the sunny wasn't rigged up to hook b [no swearing please] so i lost em.

I tried various spinners there to no avail.

I shall try some of the tips you all gave me.

Again if there is anything else it would be a great help as i am new to this kind of fishing, as i recently moved here from London England and i fished a lot there but mainly for carp.

Went to solitude last night and had fun catching the Catfish.

No carp or b [no swearing please] yet though.

I'm not giving in till i get at least one of each.

Gonna try early morning next time.

They are starting to do some work on the dam there so not sure if this will have an affect on the fishing there as i know the carp had a nice little hole they used to hide out in, I once maybe 20 nice sized carp there, didn't see any yesterday.

A little tip back too though went to the bait shop on route 31 opposite Spruce Run and had a little look over the bridge just opposite Ritas Ice cream and saw a bunch of good sized trout just sitting in there.

Doesn't look as though it gets fished much right there.
