I moved and forgot to change the address on my FID. I am picking up the chnage of address form from my local police station today. I don't have any criminal issues, I just want to buy a new shotgun for my Maryland sea duck hunt.

Does anyone know how long it takes to get the updated FID card?

Depends on the PD....Mine took about 6 weeks in Toms river.....How long ago was your original issued....Its pretty much like going through the entire process all over again...make sure you go online to DMV website and change your address on your drivers license first.

Original was issued about 12 years ago. I changed my drivers license but didn't think about the FID until I was denied at Dick's Sporting Goods.

I just did redid mine, they have to send it to the town you lived in and wait until the police send it back. Mine took 3months.

ya just goto your current PD and ask for paperwork tell them u need change of address updated....

I DID MINE A FEW MONTHS BACK. WAS VERY SURPRISED TO GET A CALL BACK THE NEXT DAY SAYING TO COME IN AND PICK UP MY NEW CARD.

Necessary in mine as well. I even have digital prints on record with the feds for work and they are making me do it. Insanity.

That is exactly why I shouldn't need them redone. They could just look it up in the database and check to see. But nooooooo, I need to pay $60 for some reason to have them redone.

yup i stood in line for an hour and a half at dicks just to get denied a shotgun purchase.. my firearms id card has my street address and my driver liscense has my po box on it since there is no mail box at my house...the state troopers never said a thing about it when they issued it to me nor did dicks or the other 2 places i bought guns this year...i bought an o/u from dicks in march and now they denied my purchase..figures...

before you surrender your old card make a photocopy of it that way you still will be able to buy ammo .
