Made a homemade lighted nock today. Total cost $8 ($5 for replacement light battery via mail order). Total time to make and test = 15 minutes.
1. Drilled a small diameter hole through nock for more brightness when lit.
2. Cut a nock in half and glued bottom half to battery.
3. Took a dab of crazy glue to light end and glued top half of nock.
4. Tested 10 shots @ 20 yards. 100% [up][up]

I've been making them like that for a while now. I do not drill through the nock though. With a translucent nock you get enough light without the hole. If you buy the batteries in bulk you can get them for less than $3 each. I buy mine from hawglite. Last time I checked they had a 6 pack for $14.95. They are fun to make and cheaper than the commercial ones. I ran one through a doe opening day, worked like a champ.

Simon Peter sport shop. I heard some Walmarts, K-Marts, and Sports Authority stores carry them, but I have yet to find one that does!

This is where I buy mine, right now they are $24.99 for a 10 pack. If you just want to make 1 or 2 you can pick them up at many sporting goods stores in the fishing section. Just make sure you buy the push/pull and not twist type, they look identicle. Most places sell them under the thill brand name.

Snap up (off) snap down (on).
You let the nock sit a 1/4 inch from the arrow and the force of the string when released snaps it on.
