Hunters reported bagging at least 297 bears during New Jersey's weeklong black bear hunt that ended Saturday as state officials continued to investigate charges of activists confronting hunters.
A final count of bruins killed during the second hunt in 35 years is expected to be released today. The total is not expected to surp [no swearing please] the 328 bears killed in the last hunt two years ago.
Yesterday state officials said they were investigating a report that someone slashed the tires of a hunter parked near the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area.
