I live on 517/206 in Andover & it raining & the wind has been picking up . Monday night till now we have had 4.3 inches of rain by tomorrow we should have 5 +. Add the 10 1/2 we got this weekend. That makes a lot of rain. The brook in in my back yard is now a river

Just in from Woj (in the field) -

"...Saw 17 deer so far this morning in 1 hour and 40 mins...Missed a shot at a nice 8 pointer...Shot under it...Had a doe at 45 yds., but didn't shoot...".

The voicemail breaks up a bit at the end, but something was said to the effect of "me being at work and him out there hunting".

Do you think he might have been bustin' my chops?!?!?!?!? [confused]:D[smirk])

You guys that call each other from the woods crack me up.[confused]:D

I could see having a cell phone for emergencies, but mine wont be on till Im laying under the bear trying to dial 911.

Arent you afraid of spooking animals by using phones, radios, etc.?

I guess its just me, but I find it much more peaceful to not talk to anyone while Im in the woods. Ive realized over the past few years that I am seriously in the minority there though.[confused]

ShawnM, I use to live in Andover on 517 by the 3 way stop. I had the old quarry in front of my house man I saw some nice Deer out there. Shot a couple also. I hunt Laffayette zone 2 I have 200 acres private land. The spot I hunt there I am not going to be able to get to after all this rain the stream is going to be to high to cross and the swamp I hunt is going to be flooded. Guess I will be hunting local to me for a week or so.

Matty, when I hunt by myself I have my cell phone with me. I leave it on silent.
When I'm with others we use Motorola radios and check in every hour. If deer are coming in I reach into my pocket and turn the radio off.

I keep the volume low on the radio and it right near my ear. I can barely hear it. I want to get ear pieces for them though.
