I'm in the market for a reloading scale. I'm leaning toward the RCBS 502 or 505, which is a balance type scale. I like the fact that it's completely mechanical and has good reviews.

Any strong feelings about electronic vs. balance? Any recommendations?

I've used the same RCBS 5-0-5 since the early 70's. It's performed as expected. I see nothing wrong with a mechanical scale. If I recall, that scale cost about $25 back then. I think I got my money's worth.

If you're throwing charges you use your scale mostly to verify measures thrown.

A powder trickler is nice to have too.
If only Jack O'Connor had written about the .270's effectiveness on Zombies, he might be known today as a decent gun scribe, and that cartridge might enjoy more widespread use...

I have a 505 and a 750 electronic scale. I prefer the electronic scale, but the 505 works. I find the electronic scale faster and more accurate so I use it 99% of the time.

I prefer the electronic scale. it seems to be faster to use, does conversions by the push of a button, and I trust it to be more reliable.

I had an RCBS electronic scale and didn't like it.

I like the balance beam better.

I have two. The RCBS 750 electronic and the RCBS 505..I use them both while loading as an extra precautionary measure. I'm just paranoid.

I use a Pact electronic w/ the electronic trickler. Nothing better for exact measurements when loading hunting ammo.

Old school scale work everytime without batteries or power. Reloading is not a race. Take your time.

Have both .. prefer electronic .. I use a scale ... faster and less sensative to movement and overshot when trickling ... just one persons opinion of course.
