will it go in sand without pedaling?, slight upgrades without pedaling?
I would use like you do for on road use and for hunting i would rather not pedal and sweat. ( plus tough to pedal with backpack or stand on back)
I was looking at the rad Rover and also Bolton bikes with a 1000 watt mid drive.
I am leaning towards the mid drive because they are geared lower more suited to low speed off road use from what i have read.
Through the woods if i can go 5-10 mph without pedaling in light sand for 2 miles I am a happy guy. I would also you it at the boardwalk in Seaside and pedal

Supposedly the mid drives have an advantage over rear. I don't know if the Bolton has a throttle. That's one reason I went with the Rover. Plus the price difference was more for the mid drive.

My 63yr old co worker got a Rambo bike a few years ago with a little trailer and he loves it. He turkey hunts all over and tows around his kayak with it and hauls deer. He’s met up with me for waterfowl hunting with his 10ft kayak in places I couldn’t get to with my beavertail unless i dragged it for a few miles. The e bikes seem to be a good investment...

I have the Lectric XP folding fat tire. Goes over everything. $899 no tax and free shipping. But I think they raised the price

Any e bike regulated to max 20 mph and a certain wattage is legal anywhere a bicycle is in New Jersey including the roads.
peteK i was looking at trailers seems to be the way to go to haul a deer out

No it is not a motorized vehicle per nj law if 750 watts or less and governed to 20 mph or less.
New law in new Jersey is linked here
