hey guys, i had a run in with an unpleasant fellow while cleaning tires up from off the property i hunt, i asked if he hunted nack there... i dont want to be walking where he has a stand, he said, "yea, this is my property.", then it went down hill from there, the land is all part of of the natural land trusts, and my road runs through the middle, he had gone and put a gate up and i told him nicely i dont think you can gate off a road? MY POINT where can i go to get the proper documents, tax maps or anything else that would help? thanks for the help

What county? Some counties in NJ have their tax maps online and some don't. You'll need a GIS program to view them in any case.

GIS = Geographic Information System. It's a way to store and look at geographic information (ie: maps) electronically. For example, Hunterdon County has downloadable files by municipality that show all of the property parcels that you can plug into a GIS program like this one:

    http://www.esri.com/software/arcgis/explorer/index.html

I tried to see if Atlantic County had the same service available but for some reason my work firewall is blocking the site-something about malicious code Anyway, check it out-if they don't have their stuff online you can go to the hall of records put that's usually a PITA because you can only go when they're open and they generally charge for copies.

A peice of land can be donated to land trust and the owner and family still has rights to the land for life they just dont pay taxes on it.You do need written permission from the land owner to hunt his land.

Go into the Hamilton Tax Assessor's office. They will have the tax maps, property info and they usually have personal knowledge of most of the properties in their town. I'm sure they can help you. The Zoning Dept may be of some help as well.
