Take notice of how much is now "Approved by the Governor". Every time there is a democrat in office we lose more of our freedom......

Agreed but, how many operations remain in business riding the rail for a number of years until things get back in the black? 'Ol beaver face is just lining up his list of anti approved accolades for his next political agenda.

Keep in mind, there was a time when we had a fish and game council that was pro Hunting and fishing. Now we have a governor approved group of people who make BUSINESS DECISIONS.......

It's a shame to see it go the way of the Forked River Game Farm.
" Trout don't rise in the cemetery, so fish while you're able."
A word to the wise......is not necessary, save it for the stupid ones!

There is a number of ways to approach that problem. None of them are easy. Seeking a legislative change that eliminates the Council is one. Trying to influence who is on the Council is another. A third approach is to take these non-hunters pheasant hunting. But it has to be a quality hunt - no bird boxes in the field or releasing birds right before hunting. Those practices should be eliminated from youth hunts as well, by the way.

And it is not only the Council that is no longer hunting. There has been efforts to take hunting politicians, state wildlife agency staff, e.g. Division staff; and college students studying to work for the Division.

Please look at this other article. It would pay huge dividends if we could introduce pheasant hunting to council members, division staff, and college students enrolled in wildlife at Cook College in New Brunswick. The Wildlife Society (which has a NJ Chapter) is not the only entity to undertake this effort. The University of Davis (California) partnered with California Waterfowl Association is another example, they may be others.

If we reach a point which all of us old pheasant hunters are gone, Division staff never experienced pheasant hunting or hunting at all; college professors teaching wildlife do not hunt, the council does not hunt, AND the antis and the bird watchers gain a more prominent voice in wildlife conservation policy, we are dead. That is their plan.

After introducing the topic of how Division staff are increasingly less personally experienced with hunting, many do not even personally know any hunters, and in tying that in with the fact that politicians and as one of you pointed out - the people they (politicians) appoint to the Fish and Game Council are not hunters, I provided a short article on how some colleges are addressing the issue of students training to manage hunting programs do not hunt - as a matter of fact, most are anti-hunting.

I also mentioned California Waterfowl Association's partnership with the University of California - Davis in addressing this trend. Here are two videos on their effort. Please pay extra attention to the beginning of the 2010 video which describes the problem and the approach.
