    Brookie or lake trout?

caught this guy in the catskills, in a pond near the inlet of a brook. I am having trouble identifying it as a brookie or a lake trout.

Brook trout, white leading edges on fins, no deep forked tail.

he was 10", they dont get much bigger in that pond, and they are pretty common. No size restriction for brookies anyway in NY

not knocking you for keeping a legal fish but if you thought there may be a chance it may be a lake trout why would you keep it if their size limit is 21" if I recall correctly

Yeah i guess youre right. I was 99 percent sure it was a brookie but guess I wanted to be sure. Never heard of lakers being caught in the pond I was fishing.
