I was driving my daughter to gymnastics around 11am and see about 4 pickups parked on the corner of federal and perrinville road. Hang the left toward 33 and see the idiots about 70yrds in walking parallel to perineville road. Thought to myself, Man those guys should be deeper in the woods. Lazy and dangerous to be driving deer along the road. A second later, sure enough, a doe jumps out of the lower swamp alongside the road, clears the guardrail and winds up in my grill.
Truck is toast, but at least the lazy drivers got a deer, even if it is now road kill. And yes, they were close enough to witness the whole event and knew full well they sent a doe heading to toward a 45mph road at a full tilt panic.
Yeah, I was worked up yesterday. Bought the truck a week ago. But it definitely could have been worse with my daughter who started freaking out. luckily the roadway is raised so the deer was low when it cleared the guardrail. Thank God it wasn't high enough to come through the windshield.
My wife picked us up and we headed back down federal Rd. Saw one of the guys waddling along, slowed down, rolled down the window and let em know they weren't too bright for driving the deer along the roadway and onto the road. Guy just had a blank confused look. I can understand why they weren't hunting deeper in, The guy looked like he wouldn't be able to drag a deer out of Mcdonald's even if they made it into quarter pounders for him.
Made the right, started to accelerate. looked to my right and saw them in the woods to my right, thought what the hell, took my foot of the gas and wack. I was at under 40 in a 45mph zone and maybe 150 yrds from the intersection where I turned onto the road.
The red circle is where they were parked. Blue line is an 8ft fence for a day camp. White dots are the hunters driving. Thick red line is where the deer popped out.
