    FID Question

Can a spouse take a shotgun owned by the other spouse to a trap field/hunting without a FID? The reason I ask is that I saw a republican candidate trying to go after senator menedez (crook) for handling an ar at a press conference without a FID. I always thought it was just a purchasers permit and didn’t need to be carried. Am I missing something?

You must "first possess" a FID card to transport a long gun unless you're transporting within one of the exemptions. The exemptions are when traveling between: home, range, gun shop. Transporting to hunt with a hunting license is also an exemption.

If your spouse has a hunting license and is transporting to hunt, it's legal. If she's transporting to shoot trap at a range, it's legal. If she's transporting to shoot trap at her dad's farm, it's a felony if she doesnt' have an FID card.

    Stupid, stupid NJ laws.

As stated above. If she has a hunting license and it's a hunting season, FID not needed. If she is travelling back and forth to a gun range (how would they know), and gun shop, not needed. So if you are caught with the gun outside of hunting season, you must know all of your shooting ranges and gun shops in your area.
