Better get used to waiting and spending a lot, at least for the next four years.

The main reason for the delay is that the entire process in NJ is archaic and sucks. The only purpose for handgun permits id the involuntary registration.

    Fast forward to late summer...

op: "Still waiting on permits. Anybody know why?"

"Well, did you pay for your psych eval and get the results yet? Did you sign the random gun owner home inspection release? Did you take the mandatory gun owners safety course? Did you submit the increased fivefold fee?"

    op: "yes I did"

"Well then, just be patient, you'll be heading out to pick up your smart gun in no time. Which of the two brands available are you looking to buy? I hope they have nj 5rnd compliant models available."

contact NJ2AS, New Jersey second amendment society. They go after towns that don't comply with the law.

    NJ Firearms ID Card

Just got my NJ Firearms ID and Permit to Purchase. It took 8 weeks. Had to call twice at Cherry Hill Police. People were nice but they said they never received the character references the first time, they had to be sent out again. All's well that ends well.

In NC, no pistol permit needed if you have a CCW.

If no CCW, file application online today ... pick-up permits @ local sheriff's dept. tomorrow.

    The way it should be.
